Was Mars the first version of Earth?

Lots of new evidence of water on Mars, thanks to our little rovers. All of this data is starting to show that Mars may have once had Oceans, and likely life forms (no hard evidence there yet)..

The initial setup for the rovers was a terminal mission. We expected them to die, but thanks to the ingenuity of our engineers at NASA, we haven’t lost all hope. Last year Mars entered a long winter phase, which lead us to believe that our rover, Spirit, would die, in a cold cold sleep. But She still tweets! Right now she’s sleeping at Troy, and recharging. If she makes it through a deep freeze, then we should see new data eventually.

Opportunity still rolls on, clocking almost 13 miles!

These little guys have given us piles of data, and thanks to everyone at NASA for all their hard work, we could possibly be seeing a future of a planet.

Now, back to my original argument.. I know there’s people out there that believe all the Religious mumbo jumbo.. something created us in HIS likeness, or there’s a giant turtle, or even the other goofy one that vikings believed.. a giant goat that shot beer from its nipples…. BUT, would it be out of believability to think that maybe the Sumerians could have been right on the ancient alien theories? Maybe Martians came here to terraform, and start a new planets lifecycle when theirs was ending. Even the Book of genesis has relations to “the Sons of God”, and “the daughters” of them, suggesting an alien-human interbreeding?

Maybe we were made in the likeness of God? But God isn’t exactly what our ancient books and our creative minds led us to believe.

Could God have been an Alien, or what Ezekiel talks about, such as “the watchers”?

It’s fun to think about, no?

I leave you with this, painted in 1710.. describing the Baptism of Christ.

entropy/chaos theory and finding the beauty of it

I talk a lot about the degradation and de-evolution of society, and I want to turn a light on, and speak about the other side of entropy.

en·tro·py   (ntr-p)
n. pl. en·tro·pies

  1. Symbol S For a closed thermodynamic system, a quantitative measure of the amount of thermal energy not available to do work.
  2. A measure of the disorder or randomness in a closed system.
  3. A measure of the loss of information in a transmitted message.
  4. The tendency for all matter and energy in the universe to evolve toward a state of inert uniformity.
  5. Inevitable and steady deterioration of a system or society

When one thinks about this in regards to our culture and society, it’s generally thought of as a negative thing, example.. “the steady degradation or deterioration”, etc… However, What if the steady degradation is really just something like evolution at work? What if the entire concept of entropy and things falling apart is merely looking through the same lens as Darwin.. but backwards?

Evolution might actually be using entropy to weed out the ill-fated concepts and works. Entropy is being used as a tool to remove from existence, the problematic and failed paths that life has followed. We generally look at genetic mutation as a problem. But those “problems” define each and every one of us. Because of genetic mutation, we are different and unique beings. Entropy is just the garbage pickup that goes through and cleans out what can’t be used anymore.

And even looking at it outside of the scope of genetics and evolution. Take a look at society. Entropy takes care of that too. The slow and relentless decay of society is weeding out the problems and false truths that people have let persist for centuries. Where are we now, compared to the 1300′s? We have not digressed! We have inevitably and exponentially progressed, and while we have everyday naysayers about the downfall of society and the pity we are as a species… the fact remains the same. We are advancing.

Science, Fact, and logic drive such things as technology and evolution.
Religion, fanaticism, scandal.. these drive entropy and chaos theory.

While I would love to see a world without hate, I know that day will not come. Life has to remain in a constant balance, and as quickly as science leaps ahead.. there will be something there to hold it back. To cause the scientists to look at what they’re creating and what they could be destroying.

Entropy has its own beauties. It will take care of the trash and degrade/decay what is no longer needed. Either in reference to our bodies, our genetics, our families, or our society. I do see a time when Science will trump religion. Hopefully soon. But, until then.. I plan to sit back and enjoy my popcorn while entropy acts out on stage what is so incredibly funny to me.
