on mainstream media, and the so-called “news”
generations ago, people picked up a newspaper to read what was happening in their local area, on occaison there was news about the world, or larger happenings outside of their local area. as technology developed, so did the “news”. people were able to be informed of happenings quicker than ever before. when we reached the telivision age, people could SEE the news, and eventually, see it As it was happening! What amazing stride we have made. The digital age has brought us up to the second news and events. and i have to say, im pleased. if there is a terrorist attack half way around the world, ill know within 10 minutes.. maybe less. this helps me by being able to protect my family, and take precautions.
however. mainstream media is driven by one thing. money. im not saying money is evil, not by anymeans. i believe in capitalism, and making a business for yourself. but when your greed outweighs your drive, then you my friend have become corrupt. when making a buck from advertisers at the cost of human knowledge and general loyalty to your audience.. then shame on you. mass media has been doing this for decades, and its only getting easier for them. we pull our eyes closed and cover our ears, because “theyre honest journalists providing the daily news”….. i say bullshit!
i know there is a moral code of ethics that journalists are supposed to abide by, and uphold. But i say: what drives them to uphold that when the corporations they work for are the corrupt lying sacs of shit? whats in it for the journalist, if theyre only told to lie. in my humble opinion, as an outsider.. there are no more honest new reporting agencies out there. all of them are either left wing, or right side nutjobs. they’re driven by money, theyre bought out by larger corps (read: NewsCorp), they’re pushed and pulled until they can drain ever member of their CAPTIVE audience of their last dimes (and honestly, in this economy, there arent many dimes left…).
luckily though, we have the internet. we have its millions of users all over the world. we have biased, but free speech. and on occasion, we have honest people who report what they see. but, due to human nature.. everyone wants some of the “internet money”. i can’t blame them. shit ain’t free. but, i for one, am a person who can be sold to say a product is awesome. they say everyone has a price. but what is the cost of that price.. what will selling out do the true news?
mainstream media sold us out long ago. i don’t trust any of them, and i take everything with a grain of salt. but what really disappoints me is the blatant ignorance we have to this. as a whole, the audience doesn’t care that we’re being lied to, sold and bought like cattle, or flat out fake news.
what happened to the days when the reporters told us everything that happened. without a price tag associated to it. without a slant to a political side, without a bias to what they do or dont like?
those days are gone im afriad. im just not so sure what to do about it.
No commentsRIP Caesar (my gecko)
Unfortunately, Caesar didnt take to well to the new setup. I revised his house a few weeks ago, and he began to drop weight and stop eating. After 6 years with my little green buddy, he is no more. :’(
I first bought him in 2002 at the NRB Expo in Daytona, within weeks, I lost his future mate. they were only an inch long, and she didn’t adapt to stress well. Caesar lived though. He lived a mighty 6 years. He’s been through every apartment I’ve lived in. He’s dined on crickets, lizards, an occasional minnow, or pinkie mouse, and even a frog once. He’s been the focus of many photo experiments, and he’s been my prided gecko for years. I will miss him greatly. I’m sorry i couldn’t give you a better home Caesar. Maybe now you’re in a happy bamboo stick in the sky.
