Painting is the practice of applying color to a surface (support) such as, e.g. paper, canvas, wood, glass, lacquer or concrete. However, when used in an artistic sense, the term “painting” means the use of this activity in combination with drawing, composition and other aesthetic considerations in order to manifest the expressive and conceptual intention of the practitioner.

I came across a crafty liar the other day.  Actually, she isnt that crafty. She’s just a liar. I was sent a link to a “work of art” on deviantart, and at an immediat glance, i said, that’s a nice photoshop posterized effect. then i saw where it was posted. “Traditional Art > Paintings“. At first I was like, ok, new deviant, made a miscategory mistake. ill let that slide. then i browsed her gallery. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING WORK was a posterized photo, placed in TA > Paintings..

normally i dont get as upset over this, but shes doing a few things here:

1. taking photos and callig them paitnings. taking away from the REAL portrait artists who actually do work.
2. posterizing photos in photoshop and making REAL digital artists look bad, byshitting out false work.
3. STEALING COPYRIGHTED WORKS FROM REAL PHOTOGRAPHERS AND SIGNING IT AS HER OWN! [link]

 on top of that, various comments in her “work” (read: photoshop’s work) suggest she is receiving commision on this BULLSHIT!

if you are a real artist, and by real i mean, someone who is making a living creating ART,then this must at least boil you to some extent.

Yesterday a great man left this earth.

Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, went into St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica on Sunday afternoon complaining of chest pain and died later that evening, said his publicist, Jeff Abraham. He had performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. He was 71.

I truly will miss his comedy, his honesty, his spark.

…as quoted from Wikipedia. The”life” on earth has yet to master extra-earth spacetravel, with life support, in a manageable timeframe. IF there are vistors coming to earth, then that must be more intelligent than us. they have done something we have not. This does touch on religious beliefs, because religious beliefs touch everything in known existence. So be warned…

I do not believe in a God, or magical sky wizard. I do not believe that some “thing” had a predetermined plan to create all that is known. I have yet to understand how we came to be, whether “life” is a complex structure of genetic and learned behaviors, or if something else jump started the chemicals and compounds that we are made of. im not saying that jump start was a finger from god. i believe it was a natural event. thus, if these same compounds are found elsewhere, then by all defining factors.. life has to exist beyond earth’s boundaries. if the stuff is there, then the process must be too.  the things we don’t know is how, where, and why. there may be little green men, there might be giant gray women. they might be gelatinous blobs that can shapeshift, who’s to say. i do believe they are visiting us. i do believe they have been around longer than us, and i do believe the know more than us. maybe we are their experiment? maybe we are their neighbors. who’s to say?
